Thanks Jeff. I spoke to the local dealer yesterday and he gave me the same advice. He called the factory tech department and they said to be safe keep the coil and CDI matched. Since neither of them cross back to substitute the early years (84-86). It's all back together with the original 84 coil. J...

I'm not concerned about getting the benefit out of the higher 28000 volts from the CDI. It actually runs great the way it is currently setup. I just don't want to ruin the current CDI that I have by running the newer coil, if infact it is the new 87 coil. I was basing that off a reply posting from J...
