A revalation
Thats what is wrong with my 83... I'm getting coolant in my gear case. It spews out the breather. What can I do to fix this? The thing runs sweet until the stator gets wet and shorts out the spark.. Any help on this would be huge. This problem has been going on for two seasons now. http://www.postim...

Two 83 Vmax for sale or trade
I am selling two 1983 Vmax sleds. The first is in decent shape(straight hull, good panels, clean dash, guages) but it is missing the hood, pipes and head cover. The second sled starts and runs good. It has great compression, fast. Looking to get 800 obo for the pair. The running sled has a new Camop...

Stator, CDI, or coil??
Howdy, Well it seems like I have only one more problem to contend with now, hopefully. My 83 vmax wants to run, but it has what I think is an ignition problem. Took it out Fri. night for its first run since I bought it in early December. After yanking it off of the trailer, choked it, three pulls an...

rear guide wheel
Thanks for all of the feedback, I appreciate it. I'm bringing the sled to my Yamaha buddy this week. This guy is good. He has worked on my other toys. So I had a chance to go through the sled with a fine tooth comb. Upon inspection of the track and suspension I noticed a circular hairline crack arou...

Backfiring
:? Well the problem continues. Went out this morning, sled started on third pull, reved fine, perfectly responsive, dropped to idle pinned at 1500, reved fine some more, let idle. After about a minute and a half the sled dies. Now it fires again and dies right away. Now it becomes a real chore tryin...

Well, the oil problem is solved, but now I see that I might have one bad fuel pump. I can visualy see gas just barely trickling through the fuel line. I have not been able to open the sled up at all since it's been so warm here and the snow is gone. When I test drove the sled it ran well. The engine...

wrong oil
Howdy, I'm new to the forum and also a new vmax (83') owner. Upon inspection of my sled, I noticed the oil res. was low. Maybe a quart and a half left. Also oil warn light would glow. So my buddy had a gallon in his garage that he swore was ok for snowmobiles. The product was West Marine 2 Cycle TCW...
