One issue about the installation of the warmers, is that the lighting circuit is regulated and the warmer circuit is not regulated. The warmers get hotter when the engine is running fast and don't put out as much at idle. By putting the warmers on the regulated lighting circuit, they will stay warme...

According to the VMAX manual, a 0.050 spacer on the end of the spring raises the engagement point 200 RPM. I added a 1/8 inch spacer to mine and it raised the engagement point by 500 RPM. Shimming the spring is easier than grinding the weights and much easier to undo if the experiment is unsuccessful.
