Is there any difference between the 1981 SRX 440 and the Vmax 540 hoods and side panels or are they the same?

I have always liked the Yamaha "Darth Vader" style sleds. The 81 SRX's are just awesome looking sleds, I remember like it was yesterday the first time I seen one out on the trail. I also like the Vmax 540's, especially the 1983's. So my question is which is the better sled for a vintage ri...

WTB- Looking for a decent Vmax (Wisconsin/Illinois area)
I would like to find a decent Vmax that just needs a little fixing up. I would prefer it to have a decent seat since they seem to be the hardest thing to find. Let me know what you got.

What should the compression be on an 84 Vmax?
I just did a compression test on my 84 and it showed 148 psi both cylinders. Is this right or do you think it has had some performance work done to her? Also what length are the tracks on these machines, 121 inch?

Are V-max Cylinders cast iron sleeved, Nikisil, or Chromed??
I just bought a 1986 V-max that is siezed up. I have not tore into it yet, looking into the Ports it would appear to be sleeved. I was wondering if it can be bored out or if I have to have the cylinders rechromed or Nikisiled if they are in bad shape? Thanks
