Well finally got it running..A few things tho..I found a 1984 complete engine for $350.00 bucks..Clinders were ok etc,But...Checked the bottom end it was fine..I put my 1983 jugs on it for now with the 1984 head...(just got a service manual and noticed the 84 head is 20cc compared to the 83 head wit...

Tony it sucks what has to be done..Alot of work..I picked up a 84 vmax engine..It has one bad cylinder but the bottom end is fine...I just put my 83 top end on it,swaped stators beacause of that extra wire and ready to go soon..I still have my original engine but working on it slowly..There is a few...

I just rebuilt the 83 pump..I noticed it's all 8M6 parts...I guess if it happens again I will go 84..Thanx for the help...

Phil...Just bought a complete rebuilt crank on here from sxr1000...For real good price its already done..Of course I will still hold onto my old one...Maybe have it rebuilt sometime in the future..But your right with that gear case stuff..Atleast I still picked up the sled real cheap..$250.00 Still ...

WOW...I knew I was looking for a fixer-upper but wow....This water pump issue never seems to go away from Yamaha. Well on a positive note I will rebuild the whole sled... I noticed one thing.Real tight on trying to make studs work in the track with room from hitting stuff in the tunnel.. Anyone ever...

Nice having alot of help from members on here...I started this v-max project and got some real suprises..
This water pump stuff kills me...I thought yamaha took care of this with the 76-80 SRX's, guess not..
