Looks nice, I wonder if you may need the front of rails idler wheel kit that Riechards and Bender sold back in the day to relive the hyfax wear in the front bend area ? Do you notice any difference in the ride of the rear suspension ?

Are the Riechards or Bender kits still around.

I've noticed no difference in the ride.
No high siding issues at all.

The only thing I noticed is that the turning is sharper

Do any other longer Yamaha front forks fit the 540

Do a search lots of info. on upgrading the TSS. an example is SXR1000's 1986 !
The front Struts from the 1994-96 Vmax 5-600cc sleds will give you 2" more travel ! You need the longer shock covers, springs and aluminum knuckles along with the struts. You can find them fairly reasonable on E-bay, any parts forum or salvage yards ! I bought a set of brand new(rare) Genuine Yamaha GYT Kit struts off of E-bay that were an upgrade for the Vmax 5-600 sleds with adjustable dampening, rebound and slightly longer travel for $75.00 ! Yamaha part # SMA-8CA91-10-00

*The 540 has to be widened to ~41" ski center in order for the longer Strut towers to clear the hood !

I did something similar to a skidoo product and broke 5 tracks in 3 years, I wish you luck.

I actually did this to my 86 VMAX in 1989 and everything was fine, Zero track issues for 15 yrs and then I sold it in 2005 because I didn't want to deal with the waterpump seal issue it had in 2004

the ride height looks great .we get alot of deep snow around here and that looks like it would get the tunnel up and out of the snow better than the stock location. how far did you drop it?
