81 SRX and 540 waterpump shaft ?

What's up with these waterpump shafts? Left is a low mileage 81 SRX, right is a unmarked 540 Case.

They look like original 81 shafts. They were built that way. Put in a 84 up as they are way better pumps..

I have this 90891-50013 Kit. Should I use that for the 81 SRX? How do you get the shaft out of the case? Hydraulic Press?

Mark if you have an 84 then I would use it , it is a far better pump then the 83 and prier. Just replace the bearing and seals and you should be good to go. All you have to do is take the remaining bolts out of the pump where it bolts to the outer stator housing to spit the cases. The shaft can be taped out with a plastic hammer, as the shaft and the collar that rides on the seals are two piece. You should be able to find seals on ebay or maybe from someone on this site. If you have any questions just let me know. By the way when I restored my 81 & 83 I put newer style pumps in both of them. They bolt right up to the original stator housings.. Jeff
