81 srx aftermarket pistons?

Post by chrisrider63 »

Hey guys just wanted to touch base with everyone and your thoughts on aftermarket pistons for the 81 srx. I took aftermarket out of my exciter sx and the skirt pulled off in my hand when i grabbed it. I have a lemans and another old one but im thinking i should just go stock because cheaping out on aftermarket could cost me new pistons.

Can not go wrong with OEM. I put Wiesco's in my 540 10+ years ago and still going strong !

how about spi pistons, or the spx quantums? have you guys heard anything about those? because i have a set in my exciter and they seem to be okay, and it was 105$ canadian to get both pistons, clips, rings and pins! ....and the thought of having one ring scares me, and im pretty sure the spi/ spx have 2???

SPI Hyperdryve pistons are going for a long time in my newer big torque Crossfire 700. I was told basic SPI's were 1500 mile pistons so I bought the Hyperdryve ones. Going well for me at 2000 miles. Sled revs to 8400 RPM's max
