Carb sync

Help I finally got my 83 vmax to start but it quits seconds later I am going to clean them out but am wanting to also sync them up. Never done the sync before and was wondering how can anyone help?

What i have done before and it gets you close without useing a synce tool is have the air box off and use 2 fingers on one hand. I put them againest the slides and use the other hand to open the throttle and see wich one opens first and adjust the other slide till it opens at the same time. After getting them set make shure they open all the way past the top of the carb port. If they are a CV carb there is a screw between the 2 carbs that adjusts when the secoundery carb opens. You want both flaps to open at the same time.
If you can get a synce tool or barrow one its the best way to do it.
