Hmmmm.......
-No ski decals/rubber tips not, Vmax & possibly aftermarket skis ?
-Rust and corrision on bottom of Struts.
-Handlebar cover has been taken apart evident by crack in seam.
- Yamaha emblem wear on seat.
-Discoloration in fuel lines you don't see unless fuel has been in lines.

I was under the impression that the 87's with the rounded ski loops they did not have rubber tips as well as stickers on the skis...? I didn't see much rust just some discoloration. I called about the sled today and they said that it has had fuel in it as it has been ran on the stand like stated in the description. From what the guy told me, it has just been used as a display piece on and off in the dealership and that the seat wear is due to the bility for people to sit on the machine while on the floor, and that its n-longer wanted and is just taking up space so they ar looking to unload it for a pretty fair price. Considering its condition as nearly NOS. Depending on what the bids go up to and If it wasn't so D*^N fr away I may be in the hole a few dollars and be making a trip to pick it up!!!

I have a set of 87 skis with decals and the rubbers notice the handles are more triangular shaped in the picture. I have seen badly weathered and ripped seats with about the same wear on the emblem ? My best guess is the skis could of been switched to a needy customer somewhere in the last 20+ years and the seat possibly could have seen the same ? Hmmm.... Notice the Canadian 88-91 models have the same skis as this 87 ! Maybe Yamaha switched production styles mid 87 to the newer rounded style skis ? Any way you look at the sled it is a very fine example and we all would be proud to have in in our stable !

Completely agreed on that one!!!

Any chance I could get a look at those skis with the decals? My 87 just has plain black skis but if they had/or I could get some decals that'd be a plus for me...

Thanks again, and I didn't mean to be steppin on any toes or anything with the earlier comments just figured I'd throw my 2 cents in there and see what it stirred up!!!

Mike

Notice in the 87 model's Jon's 87 has the round ski loops and the stickers ! Please call Gary he should have the decals viewtopic.php?f=2&t=445

I'm impressed with the bidding already!!!
Earlier this year I saw a new in the box 1986 Honda 250R on Ebay, went for over 50,000!!!
Just glad to see people with money spending it on something awesome once in a while...

here's my 87 with 458 original miles. Check the skis and ski decals out.
I'd probably sell mine for 5 grand and I think it's in better condition-lol

This sled is correct. I have my 82 SRX 500 with 37 miles on it and it looks pretty identical. You have to look at all the small gold anodized pieces to see pieces that tarnish quick with snow and moisture. The seat wear of the Yamaha in gold the side of the seat is a bit strange but the snaps all look mint. The skis are correct for the 87's. The 86's still had the triangle style loops. Why the ski stickers are not on them I don't know. The price is certainly up there and it is great to see this level of demand for it. I would love to buy this sled but would rather have a mint clean one that I could drive with out worrying about the miles. Cool stuff.

Isn't there supposed to be a chrome "T.S.SUSPENSION" on each of the black front strut covers? Or was that omitted in the 87 model year?
