horsepower SRV and Vmax

Post by macmrz »

Anyone know the hp rating for the early 1980s SRV and Vmax. My guess is the 540fan SRV was around 70-80hp and the 540liquid VMax was around 80-90hp.

The SRV only had around 60hp to meet racing limitations at that time. The vmax had 85hp if i remember correctly.

First gen SRV, 80-82 had smaller reeds and were rated at 56 hp, larger reeds came in 83 and HP was upped to around 60. remember during that time frame, ISR used HP ratings to set sleds into racing classes. For many years the 56 hp class was considered to be the pro, stock class with all sled manufacturers playing that game. Remember also that sled hot rodding was a very different game then even from the factories. Some sleds like SRV and Phazers responded with a much larger gain to things like pipes or porting then others like the VM. In some cases finding an additional 10 hp was much easier on some models.
