38 mm carbs to replace original 8M6

Post by Rickyamaha »

I know it is an old question but I am replacing the original carbs by Mikuni round slide 38 mm and would like to know with what parts inside to have a safe runner.
I will not use the air box but *K & N* filters. Please any help appreciated.

I have never ran one without an air box but, I would start richer than stock.

Lucky I am. I do have 2 80N carbs with the original air box..!! That should do at best.
Thanks for the great info.

Just curious as to what calibration if you are using 38's from polaris that do not have power jets?
