Restoring 8M6-000265

Post by Rickyamaha »

I have been thinking of this for a few years and yesterday I took the frame inside my garage to clean it and evaluate the work to be done.
It has been sitting outside bare without any protection and the 2 struts are rusted and unusuable. By chance I have extra ones but today I will try to take off the rusted ones, every bolt is seized. Wish me luck.

The motor is a 440 with a RT499 base and the number on it is RT499-010609.

The project is put aside cause the bulkhead is bended and not in line with the tunnel !!
I would have to change it and dont know if it is worth the labor to restore the sled.

I could not get the bulkhead from Mike cause too big for shipping and becoming too expensive for a bulkh.. so I decided to buy a complete chassis.
I should have it in spring. In the meanwhile I bought a 91 (88B) with a broken motor. But that is another project.
