George, sounds like a neat project and someday I want to put a different rear suspension in a chassic I have upstairs in my garage. Consider adding the longer TSS struts to balance out the longer travel higher rear suspension. Pictures !

Chuck, tell me about the longer struts, from what, are they a bolt in swap?
Re: the VMAX is back
Bob, lots of guys adding the longer Struts when installing a longer travel rear which adds height. Try some searches. Here are some T.S.S. sleds with the longer Vmax struts !Bob Vehring wrote:Chuck, tell me about the longer struts, from what, are they a bolt in swap?
The front Struts from the 1994-96 Vmax 5-600cc sleds will give you 2" more travel ! You need the longer shock covers, springs and aluminum knuckles along with the struts. You can find them fairly reasonable on E-bay, any parts forum or salvage yards ! I bought a set of brand new(rare) Genuine Yamaha GYT Kit struts off of E-bay that were an upgrade for the Vmax 5-600 sleds with adjustable dampening, rebound and slightly longer travel for $75.00 ! Yamaha part # SMA-8CA91-10-00
*The 540 has to be widened to ~41" ski center in order for the longer Strut towers to clear the hood or notch the hood ? ! ?
