My Solution to Yamahas small gas tanks ! ? !

Post by Vmax540 »

I’ve thought a long time how to deal with Yamahas use of pathetically small gas tanks on the 1980s sleds. What I did to my Exciter and soon to my Vmax was to make a 2” tapered seat riser to add clearance for the rear exchanger hoses. I had to extend the seat bolts 2". Then cut a hole in the bottom of the seat for a tank from a ridding mower. You need to have a vented cap on the auxiliary tank then, Simply hook the gas line to the main tanks vent line so, the rear tank drains first !
