Restore Both as 81's or make one an 82 clone

I have 4 1981 SRX's, 2 of them restorable , 2 are Parts machines.

One of the Resto's is a good solid , original (original Motor, Etc, no upgrades, no dealer fixed), clean tunnell, but some cosmetics issues and a melted piston

The other Resto, has the recall Fixes, and has no Serial number on the chassis (likely an accident victim)

Should i restore the 2 as 81's and sell one, or restore the first 81 and make the second one an 82 clone (no serial num)..if i make it a clone...use the 440 motor , a 540 vmax or an Exciter 570 ?

what 'd ya think?

I think clones take away from the rareity / speciality of the true sleds ? I think an Exciter or even the 1994-96 Vmax 5 or 600 engines would be ok with some modifications to the engine mounts.

I agree cloning takes away from the mystic of rare objects. Restore the "good" 81 and maybe build a restomod V-max. (newer engine, clutching, suspension etc) Really its a tough call. In the end it's your HARD earned money.
