Carb Tuning Question

Post by maxvmax »

How many turns out should the idle screw be? I am having a problem with a real high idle. I have the screws 3 1/2 turns out and it idles at 2,000 rpm.

I am thinking I have a slide/s facing the wrong way. Should the cutout portion be facing the airbox?

Thanks
Chris

Is there tension on your throttle cables somewhere/somehow?? Is it running lean?? Check the plugs..I kinda liked mine running at a higher idle it wont bogg that way with the stock spring.

"Should the cutout portion be facing the airbox?" Yes !

Are the carbs in sync ? Are the slides comming down the whole way and resting on idle screws ? Do you have an air leak at a carb mount or engine seal ?

I should note that it runs really well otherwise.
I will pull the plugs and check along with checking all the rubber boots on the carbs.

Is 3 1/2 turns out on the idle screw excessive?

Thanks
Chris
