Winter is back!

Post by Joe »

After three weeks of warm weather, the conditions have returned to normal.

Our riding area was shrinking rapidly because the valley snow was melting.

The pass forecast for this week is shown below:

12 inches forecast for this week.

i would say we are done for the year here in NW PA too.... ended the year with 854 miles between the 84 and the vmax4..... thats not too bad considering neither of them were trailered anywhere!
My airbox is held on by one screw, not because Im lazy but because it is less weight!

I posted a report tuesday, it did not post because of some bad word but would be reviewed by moderator. Well, where did it go? What was the "bad" word?

Two of my co-workers went out Friday and reported there was 6 inches of wet snow on top of glare ice on the trails. The ice was hard and flat. The snow on top did not stick to it so it did not take long for the trail to have all the snow pushed to the side with glare ice up the middle. They put on over 60 miles, so it could not have been too bad.

We put another 40 miles on the Half Track Snow Rail today at the same location as my co-workers went on Friday. There was 12 inches of new snow on top of the ice they reported. We shot some video and I will post the links on the Half Track thread in the projects forum. The snow was either Peanut butter that sticks to everything or Powder that didn't stick to anything depending on how long the sun shined on it today. We met some guys from the Soil Conservation Service that were boring cores for a snow course report. They said the major storm is going to be Thursday/Friday that makes the Sunday/Monday storm look trivial.

Grooming season ends 1 April. That means the trails are open to Jeeps. The snow park manager told me on Tuesday that they opened them 10 days ago because of the lack of snow. The department of transportation extended the Stud Season from 1 April to 10 April based on the weather forecast for the next two weeks.

Maybe we can get more sledding in this year.

18 inches of fresh snow during the first week of April and another 20 inches the second week.

We had some more snow adventures the last two weekends.

Video is posted on YouTube under user VMX540FAN.
