West End Trail Blazers Eleventh Annual Winterfest/Vintage Show & Radar Run Happens 1-26-13 In Roulette, PA.

WHAT: Vintage/Modern snowmobile show and radar run and winter festival on a large family farm.

WHEN: 1-26-13 from ten in the morning to four in the afternoon.

WHERE: KAPLES FARM, WEST MAIN STREET, ROULETTE, PA.

COST TO GET IN: Zip. Nada. That’s right. Spectators and vintage show sleds get in free! Free Parking! There is usually a modest charge to do the radar run, but the money goes to the clubs trail maintenance fund, which is a great cause. You can buy all kinds of food, drink, and raffle tickets at the show to help cover the expenses and maybe go home with some very nice prizes at the end of the day.

Who’s In Charge? The West End Trail Blazers of Potter County Pa. A local club that maintains many miles of trails in western Potter County. The EVMSS Summer Event Crew assists with the running of the vintage show.

What Shows Up? Even in low snow years, we get some really rare vintage sleds of premium quality at this event. Collectors from all over PA/NY and Ohio come here. If it snows, and as of today we have snow, the radar run fills up with trail sleds and drag racers. Two years ago we had over 100 sleds in the field. Speeds run as high as the mid 60’s for the old sleds and around 80 mph for the newer machines. The strip is flat and relatively short at 400 feet, which places a premium on the holeshot for maximum speed. The West End Crew runs the radar run and usually starts it right after lunch.

What’s Cool? Food! This clubs chili is off the charts for flavor and my work crew has made it a staple to keep warm all day. Their food barn is the wrong place to go on a diet, if you know what I mean? Great food and drink all day long. Clean out houses too. They have barrels with firewood in them scattered around the farm for warming stations. When the old salts start talking sleds around the barrels, it’s better than You-Tube! Racing? So far I have seen the wildest ever mod single Lynx run here, an incredibly neat and tidy mod 440 TX and a RADICAL modified 1200cc four stroke Ski-Doo that sounded like a Hyabusa, for the new sled fans. The rules are simple. No pit racing and no stunt riding. Wear a helmet and a tether is strongly encouraged. Check those brakes and kill switches! You run when called and only one sled at a time. It’s common sense that leads to a great time.

Vintage Classes? We have a class for anything from before 1981. No cost to be in the judging. You MUST fill out the proper forms at the vintage tent to be properly entered before 11:00 AM on show day. NO EXCEPTIONS.

How Do I Get There? Check out the map above. Roulette is west of Coudersport on Route 6, not too far from the NY border, in Potter County PA. The Kaples Farm is located on old 101, the west end of Main Street, that is a loop off route 6, on the west end of town. It is a large farm with red barns and it’s really hard to miss. They will have a plowed parking area on both sides of the road. Spectators are encouraged to park across the street from the farm house and vintage show people usually display in the side lawn and the back lawn. Don’t worry, we’ll have traffic people there to help park the vintage rigs.
