Re: Engine sucks up gearcase oil
UGH...and it runs so good. Funny none of my other yamahas seems to lube the oil pump gear I have been riding it like this for a while, just finally noticed...how big of a problem is this honestly -Dan If not fixed the PTO cylinder will go boom unless the gearcase locks up first. As said it is all p...

Re: intermittent no spark (long story)
Dan if ya get to needing parts I've got 8U9, 80N and 83H systems here that are known good. For the rest,,, (who don't know) here's the deal with changes,, 83-84 (8U9) are the same. Everything.. Harness and all electricals. 85 and up (80N) had TORS and extra lighting coil for bar warmers and TORS so ...

Re: intermittent no spark (long story)
Black/white stripe is the kill wire. If it is plugged to black anyhere you will have no spark. Black is ground.
Black/yellow strip is TORS. It needs to go to black to bypass.

Re: Look what I bought on Ebay. Swaybar
A hard to find kit. Personally I never liked the looks of them.
If I were to add a sway bar it would be like this using Exciter or later Vmax parts.

Re: intermittent no spark (long story)
Dan, What year is the sled? If it is 85 or newer it could be a TORS issue also. The key, kill and tether switches almost never go bad and can be checked by simply unpluging them one by one and retesting for spark. If spark comes back after unplugging a switch you found the problem. On 85 and up sled...

Re: 81 SRX MOD project
This sled is going to be sold. My son (Steve) who initially wanted to build it can't ride or race or drive or work, etc, etc. He developed epilepsy at about age 17. An athletic go getter who is a natural at anything requiring phsycal anything. With meds things were controled and and he functioned nor...

Re: 81 srx, 500' gear set up
I can't tell ya what to run for 500 ft but I think it's safe to say you should be near what the 439 SRX's ran but deeper to make up for the larger drivers and added weight. You can run the overdrive primary/secondary off an Exciter II or Vmax for a deeper initial launch too. Much will depend on what...

That was easy. Didn't even have to go to the barn. Got a good one will send it in the am. Do you need the plastic it screw into? hoses?

Re: ANYBODY HERE, INCUDEING CHUCK. 3:16
Did you test them in hot water Tony? Cuz if you are waiting for one to move while on the sled you might wait a long time. I don't know if it's because of the placement of the probe in that bypass line or what but I have never had one move much at all on the sled. opsled PS, I probably have a good on...

Re: VMAX Engine Parts
A true salesman!! (lol) Naw I have to start sliming down on parts. I unloaded the barn of almost everything but the Vader Vmax/SRX sleds a few years ago when I got bit by the Vmax-4 bug. Now I need to do it again. Why is it that there is always enough time to get more sleds/parts but never enough ti...

Re: performance help
Cheapest way to go faster is to jack up the radiator cap and drive a Vmax-4 under it. If the 540 it is proper tune and you still want more there is no bigger bang for the buck and still be riding a Vmax. The 540 is a great sled but mods are pricy and can be troublesome for trail. Tuned up right to s...
