When you have it running on the stand spray gas from a torch or ether on the clutch side seal if the rpms increase then you have a crank seal issue also check wires and the main wiring harness disconnect and spray cleaner on the connections.

Id keep the airbox if you dont it might blow up, im guessing it would......

If you take it apart do the crank seals, they must be dried out.

Have the same problem my engine wouldnt even turn over because the water pump seal was rusted everything inside was completely rusted.

Id be interested in the seat...HOw much shipped to windsor, ontario, canada? And how do you port a 81 SRX 440 arent they ported to the max?
