the serial number on the water pump housing is really the only way... there are also numbers cast into the bottom of the crankcase but i believe they will only be 8M6 ('81) or 8U9 ('83+)

technically 5hp briggs should be run the same way hahaha

that dude has a ton on info on his site that is really eye opening (porting and such) its just a shame he seems to have dropped off the face of the earth :(

aqaaaaa 2 stroke pipes hurt my brain... 4 stroke pipes are hard enough haha

i have read some about pulse waves and such.... but i dont have the tools or skill to actually make anything to try... luckily i also dont have any reason to..... yet haha

then run it like you stole it to 3/4 throttle for the first tank of gas... dont start it up until you are ready to rip on it, not even just for a bit...

do you have experience building 2 stroke pipes bob? i have oven wondered if you could "straighten" a pipe out and still have it perform the name as long as the diameter at any given length from the piston was the same? or do the bends also affect the powerband?
