Re: Barn find Vmax
Chuck, who runs this site, and is just an all around good guy has a stash of V Max parts, I would ask him first, maybe he has one If the clutch comes off easy that makes it easier to do if you can get the engine up out of the chassis. If the clutch is really stuck on I have cocked mine to one side e...

Sorry, I got Pol. extra 10's in mine. Should be easy enough to turn up on a lathe if you can't find them

Re: dim flickering lights common on these?
Temp gauge is a common problem, I was told none of them work right. I tried 2 OEM and a known good Autometer from one of my cars, none worked. When I had the engine out, it seemed to me that really water just wasn't going to flow up that tiny house very well., Nothing internal to direct it that way ...

Re: Clutch Help needed for Project Sexy-Max
Looks nice. Sorry I can't help you with a set up for what you have, my engine is not stock. What I will say is if your buying new, most of my sleds have always had Comet 102 or 108. When I finished the new engine for the V Max last year I used a Polaris p85. So far so good, but I was sick and tired ...

Re: Newbie questions
First, you need to find out if the moment it freezes or stopped is the engine physically locked up, or did it die from something like elec failure. A compression test may or may not show problems, but do one if you can. Does it have fresh gas?. Try it with the belt off to be sure the clutch for some...

Re: 1992 Vmax4 front scissors rebuild
I too have had good luck repairing my used ones. If not bad, a good cleaning, if totaled, made new bushings. When kept lubed they have lasted well

Re: Newbie questions
A foot is a long way down. On my kids race sled we monitor pipe center, that would read in the 900 range whlie EGT was 1200. Jetting can compensate for air box, filters or whatever all can be made safe, I really can't remember seeing a full out race sled with an air box anywhere in my life. Just be ...

Re: Newbie questions
Hi Dave, welcome to the VM world. EGT is basically the same for everything, a few things to understand. Number 1 learn whats right for your sled simply meaning watch plugs and piston at first to your comfortable. For your set up, where the probes are relating to distance from face of piston will var...
