PSI Pipes.
I thought I would post this just for general info...and interesting tidbits since most of us are still waiting on SNOW. I got my '83 way back in 1989. Actually got it free from a guy that owed me some money. Motor was a basket case...long story. I eventually got it running and have enjoyed it ever s...

Heated grip circuit.
Long story...I have owned an 83 Vmax for many years. Got it free in exchange for a little work for a guy back in 88 or 89. He told me motor was blown. Once I tore into it I found crankshaft was totalled. Found a used 84 motor with an excellent crank and cases, which I have run ever since. Had a fact...

Re: The engineer who designed the recoil....
Yep, what's with them? Everything else on Yammi's always looks and is very well made. Didn't know if my 83 Max was unique, but you can pull the recoil (notice I said pull, not yank) until the pawls engage, then pull to start it. Sometimes it engages O.K., then the next pull you can pull a foot and a...

Re: 1985 Vmax 540J "correction from 84"
X2 on the S.O.S. pads. If they're lightly rusted, you might try a vigorous buffing with automotive rubbing compound. It's fairly harmless to the chrome and I have had good luck using it to shine up lightly rusted chrome ski shocks on some vintage sleds.

Re: 1985 Vmax 540J "correction from 84"
Ahh. Outstanding. My 83 registers in miles. Someone on here will have to sound off if 85s were in kilometers. Even in miles, that's a pretty low mileage sled!

Re: 1984 Vmax 540H
Hmm. Maybe that is an 84. Red, silver decal in front of strut was on the 84s. But 84s also had a blue decal on the hood around the headlight area. Doesn't matter. 83s had a problem with the water pump seal, which was fixed for the 84 and newer models. 83s were extremely conservative from the factory...

Re: 1984 Vmax 540H
Welcome to the site. You sure it's an 84? Graphics sure look like an 83. Serial # on tunnel begins with 8U9 for 83s. 84s begin with 8X6. My 83 is 8U9-OO1981. Registration #s look like Indiana. Where are you located? I live in Delphi. I have owned mine since 1989. Great sleds. Ask away with any quest...

Re: 1984 vmax ghost problem
Could be several things, but CDI in my '83 Vmax acted pretty crazy for awhile . Initially the motor would cut out completely for a half second, then continue running. Then I could take off and ride about a mile and engine would just stop. It would start right back up. Drove myself crazy checking fue...
