carb cals
I forgot something, I must be getting old. About the powerjet blockoff: I remember now that after blocking the powerjet circuit PSI had me change the location of the main jet from (if I remember correctly) the bottom of the nozzle back into its spot in the base of the bowel. Or vice versa, it's only...

carbonator dynamics level .5
Back in the early-mid eightys PSI performance out of Wisc. was having any yamaha guy using their performance tricks block off the pj circuit with a beebee in the pj supply line. They then spec'ed an increase of two steps in the size of the mj's. Like from 310's to 330's for the 569 Exciter (for exam...

'79 SRX part for sale
Yamaha brothers: what we have here today for your consideration is one '79? SRX 8G9 cylinder jug. This one was a spare from my racing days and it sports a FRESH NICASIL JOB. NEVER INSTALLED. Didn't need it, never burned my others down. Diamond chrome plating from Howell Mi. did all mine and my engin...

carb swap
Dear Brad, You should be able to interchage mikuni vm38's from an exciter to a vmax. You should be able to recalibrate to vmax requirements without any problems. First switch to vmax slides, needles and needle jets, this is important. Check your needle clip slot for wear, as I have come across this ...

performance of the vmax
One aspect that I neglected to mention earlier is to double check the free spin of the track drive. For every machine should transmision its power as smoothly as possible. There is a lot of drag (weight) inherent to track dive vehicles. We just have to understand that, and deal with it.. MJD

wind out problems?
Hmmm, let's see... First off why do you feel the machine is not winding out like it should? A properly clutched vmax with a healthy engine and proper carb calibrations should pull hard on the powerband as it winds up. Oftentimes stiff springs, high rewinds and light weights give a person the impress...

Oops
Oops sorry I forgot another question: What changes did Bender make to the vmax stock pipes that he offered to his buying public? I have seen the graphs on the power curves from the various pipes that were built for the vmax, and many were duds. Correct me if I am wrong, thankyou. Hey did you see tho...
