Re: 87 max

Crankcase is possibly flooded. Happens to these sleds often if the fuel shut offs are not used. Problem is worse if the rear is elevated. I've had it happen and it takes a loooooooong time to clear them out buy just pulling the rope s try this-- . Pull the carbs and roll the pistons up one by one an...

Re: Airbox vs. No Airbox

Wow, I have done some tough AIRBOXES in my life, BUT THIS ONE HERE HAS GOT TO BE IN THE TOP 2 WORST TO INSTALL. I don't think I ever want to take it off again! What a pia. Any tricks or ideas? Remove seat. Remove fasteners from tank cover and tank. Slide tank back. Remove secondary clutch. Much mor...

Can't help with bearings but front and rear suspension components are shared with SRV's of the same vintage.

Re: gear case and drive gear removal crank seal change mag s

If you are trying to install new crank seals you need to split the cases to do in. The rib on the seal fits into a groove in the case. That groove helps with sealing and keeps the seal from coming out. If you are just trying to push or pound them in without splitting the cases all your wourk will be...

Bob,, you related to that Lasse dude over at TY?? All he wants to do is to tell people to take stuff off their old Yammies and toss them too. To complicated, Not needed, Hard to work on, Bad design, etc, etc, etc. Do what ever you want with your stuff Bob, for whatever reasons you like. I don't care...

Re: 83' Vmax Carburetors / Filters or Airbox??

Don't know Bob. The sled you messed with uses more oil than the ones you didn't mess with. ??? Yet they all run fine... Sounds like the stock setup is the way to go.. opsled PS, if you don't have answers to your own questions why are you qualified to tell others what to do with there's. This oil inj...

Snowgoer on oil injection and Yamaha's introduction of it to sleds. http://www.snowgoer.com/snowmobile-tech-tips/snowmobile-tips/snowmobile-tech-tip-snowmobile-oil-injection/0917/ Yes, oil injection on a two stroke has a variable rate. It must in order to work with the fuel supply which is also a va...

Re: 83' Vmax Carburetors / Filters or Airbox??

You can pick on whoever you want Bob and I won't care. I commented because your statements on Yamaha oil injection are just not true. Dynotech was wrong when it came up with it's chicken little theory way back then and many think the sky has been falling ever since. I'm not going into it all again a...

Re: 83' Vmax Carburetors / Filters or Airbox??

Dynotech is full of shit in regards to their incorrect theory on the Yamaha oil injection system. They must not understand how one works. The so called "flawed" system in a myth conjured by shallow thinking "experts" and believed by the rest. Yamaha used the same injection method...

A bad tail light ground could cause the problem. If removing the tail/brake light bulb shuts off the low oil light you will know.

Re: XLV 540 Engine bog but starts and idles great

You can check the pipe by running the sled on a stand with it off. If that improves how it runs you may have your problem. They should run better with the pipe on. I would not eliminate those reeds from being the culprit either. They have been said to have issues with ethanol fuels that result in sy...

Re: 81 SRX parts needed

If you're talking 81 440 SRX those pipes on an SRV engine would skunk it. Completely different needs in in pipes. Don't think it will fit without sawing a hole in the hood . Those fanners are much taller.
