Well finally got it running, bad cdi, also on the 87 vmax there is 2 black wires coming out of the CDI not one, so not sure as to which solid black to pull apart to check kill switches as to your post references

I believe black and white wire ground to anything will shut it down, the black and white shows closed circuit from cdi to frame/engine

Well was out agian in the dark to check for spark, no spark for sure.

So this is a question, its an 87 so it has different cdi than the rest, tors is bypassed, stator checks out, switches check out, the black and white wire to switches is not metered to be open (which i think is supposed to be open and grounded out to shut off) it is showing resistance. Metering wiring harness for shorts, the red/white wire from the stator that shouldn't give me resistance to ground should it?

Stator was out , everything metered ok, put it back together, now it sputters when pulled over, not running. This is turning into a real head scratcher

Well double checked coils, had 50 ohms on pulser and nothing on the other (red and brown). Going to pull apart and see.

Bought it not running, rebuilt the top end, good compression now about 130psi. About to go out and work on it today. It started right up after rebuild and ran about a minute with no sputters, nice and smooth, the just cut out. Now it will not start
