1985 Vmax found on Craigslist near Erie

Hey everyone.

I was searching Craigslist and found a 1985 for sale for $300. Someone needs to go save this one. I don't need another one.

Good Luck...
Message me if you buy it.

Re: Hood Crack Repair Help needed

Jeff,

Do you put anything in the 1/2" crack that you cut out? I was thinking epoxy or something.

Thanks

Hood Crack Repair Help needed

My '83 VMax has a crack in the hook from the hood mount holes up through the top toward the radiator inlet. What is the best way to repair this? I took it to a body shop and he didn't want to touch it. I don't mind having to repaint it this summer since there are no decals on the hood, just a pinstr...

Re: 84 Vmax won't start

I wonder if your stator moved and it is so far out of time that it won't fire with the current timing. I would check you timing marks. That may explain why you are still getting spark. It is just sparking at the wrong time.

Re: Vintage Yamaha site

There is a picture of a 300 Enticer with the nose in the air. I have done that exact picture many times. I still have my 300 too. Love that little sled.

Oil Light Stays ON

Hello all. It's been a long time. Finally enough snow to go out and ride in my area, however, each time I go out, something else breaks. Currently trying to figure out why my OIL light stays on in the gauges. I have oil in the jug and have checked the connector. I have also tried cycling the brake l...

Re: 102 C clutch help

Wow, I can't believe that I am posting a reply to a message that I started over 4 years ago. The sad part it, that means I haven't done any work on my Vmax's in 4 years. So I am back at it. I have my '83 running and ready for snow. The '86 still needs the spider repaired. So a few questions to get t...

I am pretty sure that a thermostat was what caused my engine to melt down too. Except my temp gauge didn't even go up before the engine was toast.

If you are seeing something, probably oil, from the seal where the pipe goes into the silencer, then you may not be getting enough back pressure in the exhaust... which will definitely cause a power loss. Pull off the silencer and see if the sealing rings are still on the ends of the pipes. Also, ma...

Are you sure it's a "not enough gas" problem??? You can get a major power loss from a stuck float that allows too much gas it too. I test feel the pipes to see if they are both hot. If one cylinder isn't firing, one pipe will be cold. If you have EGT gauges, that's even better. If you aren...

I had a 108 on my '83 Vmax and even with the original spring and the A-3 arms, the performance was CRAP. The engagement was too low, so I messed with other springs, still never right. I ended up buying a new 102 on eBay with a different bore depth which required that the motor be moved over, but it ...

Maybe once summer gets here and I get a few free days I will just make a trip up to see you and bring the sled(s) for your viewing pleasure and we can do some work on them together. Two heads are better than one I think. The reason I say that is that I can't get the clutch off yet. I bet you have th...
